Alex Norta, Ph.D., is a senior IEEE member and currently works as a blockchain entrepreneur and in addition as a Web3 researcher at Tallinn University in Estonia. Before, Alex was an associate professor at the Department of Software Science at Tallinn University of Technology. He was earlier the head of the IEEE Blockchain section for Estonia and is now the head of the IEEE Finland Blockchain Group. Alex was also a researcher at the Oulu University Secure-Programming Group (OUSPG) after having been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He received his M.Sc. degree (2001) from the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, Austria and his Ph.D. degree (2007) from the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. His Ph.D. thesis was partly financed by the IST project CrossWork, in which he focused on developing the eSourcing concept for dynamic inter-organizational business process collaboration. His research interests include the Metaverse, DAOs, oracles, blockchain technology, smart contracts, multi-agent systems, security, business-process collaboration, e-business transactions, service-oriented computing, software architectures and software engineering, ontologies, social web. Alex has served as an advisor for several blockchain-tech startups and is with one of his current commercialization projects about multi-factor challenge-set self-sovereign identity authentication funded by ONTOCHAIN and NGI.
